Life Learners

When we were on our way to Las Vegas, I got a text from Tara saying that there was an unschooling playgroup on the day that we were arriving and if I wanted, I could go "hang out with the hippies". You know I was all over that!

We arrived at the park and Bella was immediately off introducing herself...totally in her element. I settled into the mama circle and started a journey of friendship with some amazing women. I thought that we might be around for 1 more playgroup, but We ended up being in town for FOUR playgroups! It started to feel like we LIVED in Vegas :) One week, the park we were at had a really great farmer's market...such fun!

It was so great to have a something to do each week with the same people...I strive to create a sense of rhythm on the road for Bella and that made it easy!

We will miss our new friends, but we look forward to keeping in touch...

Energy and Excitement

We love the energy and excitement on the Strip...we especially like the lights at night. The first couple of nights that we were here, Bella wanted to drive around endlessly looking at lights.

Whenever we have been here in the past, we have stayed at the Bellagio...so that felt very familiar to us. We decided to take one afternoon and go to see the fountains. I think everyone should see them at least once in their life! We wandered around the hotel, checking out the Chinese New Year display in the atrium, and the blown glass in the lobby. After that, we walked across the street to Planet Hollywood and had some delicious (and cheap!) sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich and some coffees at Starbucks.

We ended the day by driving to the beginning of the strip and taking our photo in front of the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign. Super Fun. It was a good day.

Reunited in Vegas

Facebook is a fabulous tool for those who travel full time...it allowed us to connect with two of my friends that I haven't seen for ages!

Staci is an old military friend...I haven't seen her since we said goodbye at Ft. Meade in Maryland back in 1998. When she saw that we were going to be in Vegas, she contacted me and I'm so glad she did! We spent lots of time together while we were in town...mostly hanging out at parks and enjoying each other's company. Her daughter is the same age as Bella, so that was wonderful!

Martha is a friend from my days in Waverly, IA...she moved to Las Vegas straight out of high school and I haven't seen her since! We were practically inseparable back in the day. I still remember her doing my hair for prom, and no one could make me laugh like she did!

We had such a fun time...we ordered Thai take out, let the kids run wild (her kids are also Bella's age), and reminisced about days gone by. We're already planning on seeing each other again this summer. Yay!
